Engravable: The Custom We Never Charge For
Engraving is the only custom service we offer that has never, in twenty years, carried a price tag.
The reason is simple. A piece of jewelry without engraving is a finished object. A piece of jewelry *with* engraving is a record. The difference between the two is the difference between a wedding band and a wedding.
We offer two kinds of engraving. Machine engraving, done on a guided pantograph, is precise and quick — best for dates, initials, and short phrases in a single line. Hand engraving, done by our in-house engraver, takes longer and looks less uniform, because each letter is cut by eye and hand. It is, almost always, the more personal choice.
We have engraved wedding vows on the inside of bands (you can fit about forty words, if you write small). We have engraved the latitude and longitude of a place. We have engraved, more than once, the line of a song that mattered to the wearer. We are not precious about what people choose to put on the inside of a ring.
Whatever the inscription, the ring becomes harder to put down.
